Why Join LIBERAL YOUTH?

There is always injustice that we should be proud to tackle. Over 1 million adults in the UK are illiterate; 2.8 million children live in households below the UK poverty line; the historical abhorrence of genocide in Rwanda is being repeated in Darfur now, with the international community making little progress in ceasing the killings.

In the 21^st century it is still true a child born into a rich household will have significantly more freedom of opportunity than the same child born into a life of poverty, inadequate schooling, and poor healthcare.

Liberals believe that both the state and the market should be directed to the same outcome- spreading freedom and opportunity to those that lack it.

If you feel the same way, it’s time to join an exciting movement in the UK, and the world, to change the way we live for the better.

What Can LIBERAL YOUTH Do for Me?

LIBERAL YOUTH provides many opportunities to its members. It is a movement that gets access to key decision makers in politics, Non Governmental Organisations and civil society.

Recently, LIBERAL YOUTH members have hosted party leader Nick Clegg at our launch event, worked with the Aegis Trust on a campaign of divestment from companies invested in Sudan, and hosted professors and activists at our conference to talk on a range of issues.

LIBERAL YOUTH also provides training for a range of skills - from policy formulation, to public speaking, to how to get ahead if you want to be an MP.

LIBERAL YOUTH members have used the opportunities it provides to train political dissidents in Belarus, organise a nationwide ‘Homophobia is Gay’ campaign, talk at party conference, and go on to be MPs and elected officials.

Members are kept up to date with our e-magazine, Yell!, invited to attend twice yearly conferences, and can attend international events as delegates. There are a multitude of opportunities from the grass roots to the front bench for you in LIBERAL YOUTH.

What Can I do for LIBERAL YOUTH?

LIBERAL YOUTH has a range of elected positions with their own specific responsibilities. However, there is much more to us than the ‘Executive‘ that carries out our organisational functions.

LIBERAL YOUTH a broad movement that mobilises both its membership and its allies to realise liberal goals. Everyone has abilities that are useful, so get in touch and get involved - you’ll be welcomed and very much appreciated.

If you would like to join LIBERAL YOUTH, visit www.libdems.org.uk and join there. Remember, you qualify for the £6 concessionary rate. Once you've done that, please send an email to ldysadmin@libdems.org.uk so we can ensure you're added to our membership database.
