Intro

We rallied in Brighton in support of the Global day of action for Darfur on Sunday 16th September with Lynne Featherstone MP and Graham Watson MEP making Key Note Speeches.
So far we've had a motion passed at the Liberal Democrat party conference in September, and in October a similar motion was debated in Berlin for the European Liberal Parties to adopt, these are the parties which make up the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats in the European Parliament. Should it be adopted our campaign will have a nationwide and European Dimension.
We plan to roll out our campaign to our branches right around the country, who will hold rallies, organise events and bring forward Student Union and Council resolutions raising awareness of the Genocide, and calling on firms and places of education to divest from the Sudanese Government, and put pressure on them to find a resolution to the crisis.
We are also working with the parliamentary party and our councillors to give this matter the attention it deserves on the local and national stage and intend to work with pressure groups such as Amnesty International, Aegis Trust and the National Union of Students to raise awareness of this issue, and hold the government to account over dithering and deportations.
