Postcards to Political Prisoners
Freedom of Expression is a human right – but it is not globally respected. All across the world people are imprisoned for merely stating what they believe in. At an IFLRY event in Istanbul, Liberal Youth heard the story of Mikael Nabil (find out more below) and were touched by the solidarity shown by the delegates when they decided to send postcards of support to him. We want to continue this campaign here in the UK and in the future support other prisoners of conscience (or Political Prisoners).

Mikael, a young blogger and liberal activist from Egypt, has been imprisoned for a blog post criticising the military in Egypt following the overthrow of Mubarak. Despite being a civilian, Mikael was sentenced by military tribunal. He has been on a four-month long hunger strike protesting both his treatment, and sentence.Sign up now!
